FUFSD Teacher Performs With Orchestra at Union College

FUFSD Music Teacher Mark Visconti was a guest electric guitarist with the Union College Philharmonic at a performance on Friday, Oct. 23 in Schenectady, N.Y.
Visconti performed a work by Steve Vai, “Liberty,” alongside a full orchestra, as part of the college’s fall concert program, titled “Lamentatio Herois.”
He said the performance would be a blend of modern and classical music.
“The performance will showcase the versatility of the electric guitar in a traditional orchestral setting and bring together the worlds of contemporary guitar performance and classical orchestral music,” he said.
Visconti said he was invited to join the orchestra performance after teaching a History of Rock class and a Guitar and Songwriting masterclass at the school. His son is a junior at Union College and has been a member of their orchestra and early music ensembles.
Visconti said he was looking forward to the performance after working collaboratively with the school.
“One thing led to another, and this idea took shape,” he said. “I’m incredibly honored to be doing this.”
The Performance took place at Union College on Oct. 23rd at 7 p.m. at the Union College Memorial Chapel.
