Dear Spartan Families, 

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year. I am thrilled to welcome back our returning families and extend a warm greeting to those joining our district for the first time. The start of a new academic year brings a fresh wave of energy, curiosity, and potential for every student who steps into our classrooms. 

As we begin preparing for everyone’s return to school, I am eager to share what you can expect when you enter Golden Hill Elementary or S.S. Seward Institute this year. Our teams have been working hard this summer to welcome you to refreshed spaces and comfortable learning environments. 

This summer, the District has received new Air Conditioning units in classrooms across both buildings, renovated bathrooms, and a new roof at Golden Hill. We are looking forward to air conditioning in the gymnasium at Seward, a new generator, and playground upgrades at Golden Hill by the spring. 

Simultaneously, the district maintained a robust summer schedule for students. Highlights included a July performance by our Summer Band and the continuation of our academic tutoring initiative in partnership with the Empire State Service Corps. Both of which ensured our students remained engaged and academically supported all summer. 

As we enter this school year, I want to remind you that we will continue to prioritize engaging minds through unique experiences, empowering futures with opportunities for continued growth, and excelling together as we navigate a new and exciting block schedule at Seward and the everyday adventures of elementary school. 

We are fortunate to begin this school year together, beginning on Wednesday, September 2nd. When we work together, communicate openly, and support one another, our students thrive. We encourage you to stay involved, attend district events, connect with your children’s teachers, and share your ideas throughout the year.  

Thank you for your continued trust, enthusiasm, and dedication to our schools. Together, we will make the 2026–27 school year an extraordinary chapter of growth and achievement for all of our students.
