S.S. Seward Athletes of the Month
Natalie Rodriguez:
Natalie is a dedicated team player and a first-year varsity starter in her second season with the girls varsity basketball team. Her commitment and expanding role have made a significant impact this season. Natalie has embraced new responsibilities and handled them with maturity and confidence. In February, she averaged five points and five rebounds per game, numbers that only begin to reflect the valuable contributions she makes to the team.
Jason Davis:
Jason is a sophomore competing in his second season of indoor track. This season, he competed in the 600, 1,000 and 1,600-meter events. Jason has shown tremendous improvement, lowering his personal best in the 1,600 meters by nearly a full minute. A dedicated athlete, he has also taken on a leadership role among the team’s distance runners.
Nicholas DeRosa:
Nicholas is the boys varsity basketball Student-Athlete of the Month for February. During the month, he scored 51 points while adding 17 assists, 25 defensive stops, 19 rebounds and 10 steals. He also served as team captain for three games, with additional leadership opportunities ahead as the team continues into section competition. On the court, Nicholas plays with a high basketball IQ, quickness and confidence. He has shown significant improvement in his defensive posture and has found his offensive rhythm, particularly from the three-point line. In the classroom, Nicholas continues to excel, maintaining a 90% average across all classes during the second quarter. His dedication to both academics and athletics makes him a well-deserving choice for February’s Student-Athlete of the Month.
Georgia Maesano
Georgia is a junior and a second-year varsity cheerleader who serves as a backspot on the team, a role she performs exceptionally well. She is a talented and athletic athlete with a strong work ethic. Her background in dance has been a valuable addition to the team, giving her an extra edge and strong stage presence on the mat. Georgia is equally dedicated in the classroom. While balancing other extracurricular activities and her membership in the National Honor Society, she continues to excel academically and serve as a wonderful role model for her younger teammates. She has been a great addition to the cheer program, and we look forward to seeing her and the team compete at States this weekend.
