Wellness Day returned with much excitement to Golden Hill Elementary on Monday, Oct. 16, thanks to support from the school’s Building Leadership Team, the AOOA (All One One All) Farm in Goshen and the Orange County Department of Health.
Beth Verblaauw from AOOA Farm brought various fresh vegetables including sweet potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and parsnips for children, many who were eager to try the different offerings. Also helping introduce the foods to students was Sara Taylor, a PTA volunteer, and Ashley Dinsmore from the Building Leadership Team.
School nurse Marlene Lysack said she hopes this is the first of many future Wellness Day events, as part of Florida’s goal to establish a healthy nutrition environment. See the video below:
