In honor of Fire Prevention Week, our friends at Florida Fire Department visited Golden Hill Elementary students this week to teach about fire preparedness. Students got to tour the fire trucks and even test out some of the equipment!
This week’s theme, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape”, emphasizes how we must all prepare fire escape plans, test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms every month and replace them every 10 years, implement appropriate building codes, and when possible, install residential fire sprinklers.
Students in grades 4 and 5 got a demonstration indoors on fire preparedness and are entering an essay contest to win a carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher and a $50.00 gift card.
Thank you to the volunteers at the Florida Fire Department!
