When the safety of students requires that schools close because of weather, road conditions or other circumstances, an announcement will be sent via the SchoolMessenger system. SchoolMessenger allows for phone, email, and text message notifications. For more information, contact your building principal.
An announcement will also be posted on the school’s website, and the following radio and TV stations will carry the news of the closing between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. as a community service:

Delayed Opening
Depending on road conditions, it may be necessary to delay the opening of school by either one or two hours. An announcement will be sent via the SchoolMessenger system, as well as the radio stations listed. Changing conditions often result in subsequent announcements.
Early Dismissal
If it becomes necessary to dismiss students early because of emergency conditions within the district, the middle and high school students will be released first, followed by the elementary students. Announcements will be sent through the SchoolMessenger system, the radio and tv stations listed and the school website. Parents are encouraged to have a plan in place for their children’s care in the event of an emergency closing and to review this plan with their children.
Please do not call the schools about closings. Phones must be kept free for emergency calls.
Snow Day Make-up
In the event that the district exceeds its allotted emergency closing days, make-up days will begin with April 18, April 11 and April 12.
