Dear Families,
It has come to our attention, via the New York State Education Department (NYSED), that some parents and guardians of students who have recently taken the SAT or PSAT exams are being targeted by scam calls. These callers request personal information, including credit card details, under the false pretense of mailing test results.
We want to make you aware that no legitimate SAT or PSAT organization will ask for payment or financial details over the phone to send test results. This is a scam, and we strongly advise you to be vigilant.
Here are some important reminders to help protect your personal information:
- Be cautious of unsolicited calls: If you receive a random call asking for payment or personal information, research the organization before sharing anything.
- Verify with your child: If a caller claims they are providing a service related to your child’s exams, hang up and double-check with your child.
- Understand the College Board’s policies: The College Board will never request financial details over the phone or via email.
- Avoid sharing personal information: Do not provide credit card numbers or other sensitive information to unknown callers, especially for services you did not request.
