Learning Opportunities for parents and staff through Cornell Cooperative Extension

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange and Sullivan Counties has a variety of opportunities available to parents, school faculty and staff this fall. View linked flyers for more details as well as registration information.

Parenting a Related Child:

This is a free, self-paced online program for those raising related children (stepchild, grandchild, sibling, niece/nephew, etc.). The program runs from September 15 until November 22.

Lunchtime Talks @ noon: A Path Towards Regenerative Resilience:

This free, virtual series covers a different topic each month. The first half of each session will consist of a brief presentation. The second half will be interactive, consisting of small and large group discussions about the practical implementation of resilience-related concepts, frameworks, and practices.

September 26: Master community builders present a just transition
October 24: Community-driven climate resilience planning
November 21: Panel discussion: Using a public health framework to build resilient communities
December 12: Sharing stories

Self Care/Self Connection:

Come and learn about practicing self-care as a parent. The virtual program is on October 1, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The cost is $10.

Discipline is Not a Dirty Word:

This virtual program will support parents and caregivers with tools and resources for raising children. There are four sessions starting October 30. The cost is $40.

Making Healthful Decisions Conference 

Learn about stress-reducing, regenerative, and practical tools that support the well-being of children, youth, and adults. The conference will be held at Dutchess Community College on November 1 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $80. The conference welcomes school faculty and staff, administrators, students, parents and community members. Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering Continuing Teacher & Leader Education (CTLE) credits for the conference. 

Adult/Adult Connection:

This virtual session will touch on some basics to help adults connect better with one another. It will be held on November 21 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The cost is $10.
