The Florida Union Free School District would like to extend a congratulations to Athletic Director and Coach, Joe DiMattina. Joe was selected to receive the New York State Athletic Administrators Award for Emerging Athletic Administrators representing Section IX, Chapter 9.
The Liam Frawley, Emerging Athletic Administrators Award goes to an individual who is recognized for outstanding accomplishments and contributions as a new Athletic Administrator. Other criteria include the member showing contributions to their community, local chapter of NYSAAA, state, ongoing commitment to athletics, willingness to get involved, constant professional development and continuing education.
BIO: As an Athletic Director and a proud member of the Section IX, NIAAA and CAA, Joe plays a crucial role in fostering a thriving athletic community. He is committed and serves as the Section IX Softball and Boys Soccer Chairperson contributing to the growth and success of these programs. In addition, Joe is a BCANY member, on the Section IX Girls Soccer Committee and Section IX’s Classification Committee.
Joe’s commitment extends beyond administration. Joe has served as a physical education teacher for the past 25 years as well as coaching at the varsity level for George F. Baker High School and S.S Seward Institute mainly in girls soccer and basketball inspiring young athletes to reach their full potential. He has coached back to back state championship teams for girls soccer in 2007 and 2008. Joe combines his love for sports with a dedication to shaping well-rounded individuals.
